Defenselessness

How do we as the race of man rise above the battlefield?

The killing has gone on for centuries. Humans seem to know no other way to exist. War has failed. Peace has failed. Religion has failed. The brightest minds have failed to resolve what is the dark side of humanity.

Who has never harmed another and yet was harmed? Who did nothing wrong and yet suffered? Who was innocent, suffered, died and rose above his circumstances? He never defended himself and the consequences of others' actions upon him held no lasting effect.

This is the lesson and the miracle of defenselessness. 

When you attack another, you attack yourself.  When you forgive another, you forgive yourself. When you show love, you invite love back into your life.

The great lesson of the life of Jesus Christ was in the way he lived, and not that he died.  He believed in a better world. The world in his mind, the kingdom within, was a place where love and truth reigned. The riches of this world meant nothing to him. There will never be a solution for those who value the temporal riches of the material world.

Heaven and earth may pass away but my words will never pass away.  Truth is forever. Love is forever. These are ideals and concepts, much as God is an ideal and a concept.

That truth does not make God less real. That makes God the one reality.  All truth and all love emanates from this one reality. All else is false. All else is illusion. You can tell the illusion because it is always temporal.
