Message from the Collective

"It's been 34 years. It's nearer than it gets."

August 9, 2015, awakening her between midnight and 1 am.

Thus came a rare message from the Collective.

And Marie realized she had counted the time from the wrong event.

"15 years was sufficient" for Joe.

"35 years was sufficient for the husband." The year she divorced Daniel was 1981. It has been 34 years!

In 1994 when she last heard from Joe, it had been 15 years since he traumatized her, shutting his door in her face and her mind broke, deleting his voice, his face, and then his name, progressively. Later she deleted many memories of Daniel, and of her own personality.

Interpreting the cryptic messages from the Collective had been confusing, but she did not realize the deletions they would do had different start dates!

Two questions occurred to Marie:

1- Will she remember more at the 35 year mark?

2- What will happen next?

Fall approaches and Marie realizes that the hands of Fate and Change have a pattern of sweeping through her life beginning each Fall and culminating each Spring.

Her mother, father, and beloved cousin died in Septembers. She found out her divorce was final, her home burned to the ground, and the stock market crashed in Octobers. Then there was 9/11.  She had begun to dread this time of year.

Her life always seemed to change from Fall to Spring or Spring to Fall:

Her divorce hearing had been in the Spring. She remarried and her son was born in different Springs. Her house was bought in the Fall. She started her new job in the Fall and old one in the Spring.

And it was coming again. Life was about to change again for Marie and the Collective had this time given her a warning.

Was it time to finally remember what really happened, with Daniel?

And would Marie ever know why the Collective did this, deleted the men she loved from her life?
